Kenmore 86870100 Dryer – how to get to the heating element
So I recently purchased a replacement heating element for my old dryer. Model of the dryer is a Kenmore 86870100. I looked at a bunch of YouTube videos and none of them showed me how to properly remove the outside housing of the heating element in order to swap it out. Through a little trial and error I was able to find a Bracket that was holding the housing assembly to the machine. It looks like this:
It is in a decidedly tricky place too. It’s behind the non-removable panel
Once you loosen the bracket, you can lift up the metal housing and slide it out. Then remove the screw attaching the element to the housing. Hope I saved someone some trouble
